Brethren, Eastern Star, et al,
I just received an update on the state of the lodge temple building remodel from WB Steve Turner and he asked me to pass it on…
Since he and Dick Taylor had wrote a letter of concern and had a follow-on meeting with the contractor and the insurance company execs about a month ago, the contractor has put a good foreman on the job who has stepped up to the plate to fix all that has gone wrong with the lodge remodel. One of the things that went wrong was overspray that damaged the beams in the lodge, which we did not want painted. In order to clean those beams properly, they used a solvent that took the varnish off of the beams, so now the beams need to be refinished. Meanwhile, furniture has been moved back to the upstairs and Steve reports that, other then the beams, the upstairs is looking very nice. Thus, here is the current schedule:
Tuesday, June 9: Tyler Lodge will meet upstairs for stated meeting.
Wednesday, June 10: Evergreen Lodge may use upstairs
Thursday through Monday, June 10 – 15: Upstairs closed while the contractor varnishes beams on Thursday, Friday, and Monday
Reopening of the upstairs will depend on how quickly the varnish odor dissipates. Steve anticipates that it will only take a few days. However, Eastern Star may still enter through the East door to store away any paraphernalia in their storage closet behind the East, over the weekend or while the odor dissipates.
The kitchen remains unusable pending the installation of exhaust hoods and return of the kitchen appliances. This will be the last thing to be completed later this summer. The rest of the fellowship hall remains usable.
In the Faith,
Secretary, Horace W. Tyler Lodge and Templeboard
